Ghanaian footballer jailed in Sweden freed


Ghanaian football sensation, Kwame ‘Conte’ Bonsu is walking a free man after spending a year behind bars in Sweden for charges of rape and assault on his former wife.

Bonsu who played professional football for Gefle IF in the Swedish topflight (Allsvenskan) and deported after his release is now in Ghana and could return to active play elsewhere.

The former Kpando Heart of Lions midfielder who had his 2 year jail term slashed by half by Swedish authorities has since been reunited with his family.

Unless pardoned, ‘Conte’ cannot return to Sweden for the next 10 years.

Kwabena Bonsu, ‘Conte’s father said, “I was very happy when he called to inform me of his release; I could not hold back my tears”, he told Angel Sports in an interview today.

He also thanked the Angel Sports Crew for keeping in touch with the family since their son was in jail in that European country.
