One of the seventy-five (75) referees captured in undercover investigations by ace investigative journalist, Anas Arewmeyaw Anas receiving money to influence the outcome of football matches has confessed he is unable to perform his conjugal duties as a man since the issue broke out.
A near teary assistant referee is quoted as saying “After the exposé, I have not been able to sleep with my wife because the appetite for it isn’t there and she keeps complaining day in day out. “I can confidently tell you that, if not for her Christianity, she would have divorced me and moved on with her life and is a worry for me”.
Fifa Assistant Referee, David Agyin, who has finally found his voice on Accra-based Asempa Fm explained that the amount he received was not meant to influence any match as the narratives sought to suggest.
“How can I take Ghc100 as a bribe to fix a match without negotiations?”, he questioned the host Kwadwo Mensah Moshoosho.
It would be recalled that The Referees Association of Ghana last month announced the suspension of 75 local and FIFA referees as a fallout from Number 12 pending the outcome of investigations.
Following this, Fourteen (14) out of the Seventy-Five (75) referees who were captured in undercover investigations by Anas Aremeyaw Anas to compromise the outcome of football matches were cleared of any wrongdoing.
The rest according to investigations conducted by the Referees Association of Ghana have been banned 10-years each whilst 8 have been banned for life.
